Who runs DroneGuide.ie, and how we keep our drone buying guides and Irish rules pages accurate and independent.
DroneGuide.ie is an independent guide to choosing, buying and flying drones legally in Ireland. We are not a shop, and no manufacturer pays for our recommendations.
Why this site exists
Search for drone advice in Ireland and you mostly find shop pages and UK websites. UK guides quote prices in sterling and rules that do not apply here. Older Irish pages still describe a registration system the IAA retired years ago.
We started DroneGuide.ie to fix that. Every page is written for Irish buyers, with euro prices and the current Irish Aviation Authority rules in mind.
Who writes it
Our guides are written by Liam Collins. Liam writes the buying guides and the Irish rules pages, comparing drones on the things that matter to buyers here: weight, camera quality, real flight time and the euro price on the day.
Every rules page is checked against the IAA's own guidance before it goes live, and again when the rules change.
What we cover
Buying guides. Drones for beginners, children, teenagers and photographers, at every budget from toy drones to DJI's flagship range.
Irish rules. Registration, where you can fly, insurance and what to do when a drone arrives as a Christmas present.
How we make money
When you buy through some links on this site, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra and never decides which products we recommend. Our affiliate disclosure explains the details, and our editorial policy sets out how we keep recommendations independent.
